The A is for fonts Type Foundry was founded in 2010 by Émilie Rigaud and is based in La Rochelle, France.
A is for fonts sells typefaces that have a strong power of visual expression supported by a high degree of technical precision. Bringing together the craziness of graphic design and the expertise of typeface design.
A is for fonts is guaranteed modular-fonts-free because life is most of the time not modular.
The first typeface released on the type foundry was the Coline family that Émilie designed when studying at Reading university, under the teaching of Gerard Unger and Gerry Leonidas. Coline has been awarded with the Type Design Prize 2011 of the Tokyo Type Director's Club. Since then, A is for fonts has been promoting Émilie’s fonts, and also remarkable fonts for other designers such as Building Paris and Axel Pelletanche-Thévenart.
Licensing is free for charity organizations implied in protecting the environment.
Besides typeface design, Émilie Rigaud is engaged in research activities, both as a teacher in type design at the ANRT (Atelier National de Recherche Typographique) in Nancy (France) and as a researcher at Inalco university in Paris, where she is doing a PhD about the history of Japanese typography in the 20th century. Émilie will always say yes when invited to karaoke.
